Multi-Δt approach for peak-locking error correction and uncertainty quantification in PIV

Abstract A novel approach is devised for the quantification of systematic uncertainty due to peak locking in particle image velocimetry (PIV), which also leads correction peak-locking errors. The approach, applicable statistical flow properties such as time-averaged velocity and Reynolds stresses, relies on recordings with multiple time separations Δ t a least-squares regression measured quantities. In presence locking, displacement non-linear function measurement errors vary non-linearly sub-pixel displacement. Additionally, fluctuations are combination actual error.
